Brad Rose, Ph.D. is a Stanford University and Brandeis University trained applied sociologist, who has more than 25 years of experience designing and conducting program evaluations and organization development initiatives for a range of clients in the non-profit, education, and philanthropic sectors. Dr. Rose has extensive experience assisting non-profits, educational institutions, and foundations to ensure that they are measuring the impacts of their programming and systematically utilizing data to inform program refinement. He brings to the practical challenges involved in determining program effectiveness, experience-based knowledge of organization and program-design and a collaborative and inclusive approach to client engagements.
Guiding You from Start to Finish
Dr. Rose often works with clients from the initial stages of program conceptualization (i.e., identification of potential funders, specification of project goals, program logic modeling, proposal writing, etc.) through program implementation, and to the measurement of program outcomes/impacts.
With a focus on “developmental evaluation,” Dr. Rose helps program managers, funders, and stakeholders to ensure:
- Successful program design
- Accurately measure the results of interventions
- Make timely adjustments in order to maximize positive program impacts
Identifying & Achieving Objectives
His professional experience in both the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors, together with his sensitivity to the issues of building organizational capacity, enables him to assist organizations and their leaders to expeditiously accomplish immediate program objectives and to achieve longer-term organizational goals.
Typically, Dr. Rose works with clients to understand both their organizations’ needs and stakeholders’ concerns. Following initial consultations with program managers and program stakeholders, he identifies:
- Key evaluation questions
- Optimal methodologies for answering identified questions
Gathering & Analyzing the Data
He then designs a strategy for collecting and analyzing data that will provide meaningful and useful information to all program stakeholders. By implementing a range of tailored tools
- e.g., Interview protocols
- Web surveys
- Focus groups etc.
Dr. Rose is able to collect, analyze, and interpret information about the characteristics, activities, and outcomes of programs. His collegial approach to working with clients allows him to actively support program managers, stakeholders, and funders to make data-informed judgments about programs’ effectiveness and value.
Communicating the Results
Periodic debriefings with program staff and stakeholders allow Dr. Rose to communicate preliminary findings, and to offer program managers timely opportunities to refine programming to better achieve intended goals. At the end of the evaluation process, he provides a written report that details findings from evaluation activities and that makes suggestions for future program improvement.
